“A Vintage Christmas”

December 11, 2010—9 a.m.—Dark

ALL DAY FUN FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY!

Fun & Entertainment begins at 9 AM! 

Singing, Dancing, Cheerleaders, Drill Team, Plays, Concerts, Drama, Food and Refreshments, Gift Shopping, Children’s Christmas Village, Unique Christmas On The Square Ornaments & Tshirts, Wreath and Gingerbread House Contests, one of a kind postal cancellation for your Christmas Cards … and SO MUCH MORE!!!!

Entertainment MC is Dale Weiman!  Lighted Parade begins at 6:00 p.m.  This year's Parade Chairman is Dona Felton.  Dona did such a fantastic job for us last year, it was a MUST to invite her back.  The parade will begin at the SJC Fairgrounds and comes into town on Hwy 150, turns right at the main entertainment stage onto Byrd Avenue. The parade continues on Byrd Ave. to Slade St., turns right.  Continues on Slade St. until Hwy 150, turn right and return to the fair grounds on the left. The schedule for this year's parade is as follows:

4:00 pm line-up at the Fairgrounds

5:00 pm judges must be at the Fairgrounds

5:30 pm Judging begins

5:45 pm Parade starts into town.

Michael Douglas, Executive Director and Choir Director for the 2009 Christmas on the Square Community Concert, is announcing the expansion of this years program.  The 2010 concert will include the Community Choir, Auditioned choral ensemble from within the Community Choir, solos, duets, trios, etc. from area churches...vocalists and instrumentalists and drama.

The Community Choir program performs from 5:00 pm to 5:45 pm on December 11th—Christmas on the Square Saturday, at  First Baptist Church in Coldspring.  This year's program promises to be the best yet!

Officers, Directors and Members of the Coldspring / San Jacinto County Chamber of Commerce welcome you to San Jacinto County’s celebration of this special holiday and the wonderful magic that “A Vintage Christmas” can bring.  During your visit, we hope you and your family will find an atmosphere filled with Christmases of yesteryear in the historic town of Coldspring and Old Town Coldspring.

Vendors will be set up all around the Courthouse Square … enjoy our local shops, crafts, food, parade and all the festivities!  Watch the entertainment and let the joy and peace of this season fill your hearts and bless you and yours.

Information Booth:
An information booth will be located on the Courthouse Square.  Stop by for up-to-date information concerning entertainment at the various locations in town, plus craft and food vendor information. 

You will find brochures, souvenir Christmas on the Square programs, general information regarding San Jacinto County, Christmas on the Square t-shirts, and ornaments

Old Town Coldspring:
Take a hayride from the downtown to Old Town.  The Old Jail Museum as well as the schoolhouse co-op with several gift shops, the quilting shop and all the other antique and gift shops will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Security—Parking—Restrooms
Volunteers from the San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Department and the Texas State Guard will provide security and direct traffic during Christmas on the Square.

Parking for handicapped persons is located next to the San Jacinto County Courthouse Annex.  Others may find parking on various side streets surrounding downtown.  Highway 150 through downtown will be closed to through traffic from Cedar to Byrd Avenues during most of the day.  Traffic will be rerouted around the Courthouse Square. 

Restrooms are located around the Courthouse Square.

Crafts—Approximately 90-100 artisans and vendors of antiques, crafts and merchandise line the Courthouse Square on all four sides.  All vendors are open between 9 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. for your shopping enjoyment. 

Food Booths—Between the corners of Cedar and Butler Streets—Opens at 9:00 a.m. and features a variety of foods offered by state-licensed cooks.

Children’s Christmas Village—Located across the road from the Chamber office.  Wrist bands will be available for $3.00 which will allow children to participate in many activities!

Gumbo Kitchen
Located at the Coldspring United Methodist Church, beginning at 11 a.m.  Serving Gumbo with all the trimmings.  Sponsored by the Coldspring United Methodist Men.

Tree of Lights:
The lighting of the Tree of Lights will be at 4:30 p.m. on the west side of the San Jacinto County Courthouse.  The Tree of Lights is sponsored by the San Jacinto County Children’s Protective Services Advisory Board.  Each ornament represents a contribution that provides Christmas gifts and festivities as well as necessities throughout the year to San Jacinto County children.  Donations may be sent to:  P O Box 343, Coldspring, Texas 77331, or call 936-653-3216

Chrismon Tree:
While visiting historic Coldspring United Methodist Church, you will want to view the annual Chrismon Tree, a Christmas tradition located in the church sanctuary.  Chrismon stands for Christian Monograms.  Members construct ornaments which are a symbol of his/her faith and the ornaments are displayed on the Chrismon Tree.  Visit

12:00 p.m.—1:00 p.m.                   Santa will be feeding his reindeer
