The Coldspring Oakhurst Consolidated Independent School District is committed to education all students to function at their highest level of academic and behavioral performance in order to become responsible citizens. One of the characteristics of COCISD is strong community support through the Community Involvement Team and scholarships to outstanding graduation seniors, honoring outstanding graduates, supporting adult education classes and a host of other activities.
TRANSPORTATION:
San Jacinto County lies directly between two major highways, US 59 and I45. US 59 is a main thoroughfare that stretches from Texarkana to Laredo. I45 runs from Galveston to Dallas. State Highway 150 runs east and west across the area. San Jacinto County and Polk County are joined by a bridge which crosses over the Trinity River on FM 3278 at the Lake Livingston Dam.

GOVERNMENT:
City Type A: General Law Municipality / Mayor & Council. Incorporated in 1969. Council meets 1st Monday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Coldspring City Hall.
County—Judge & 4 Commissioners for 4 precincts. Commissions’ court meets 2nd Tuesday of each month at 9 a.m. and the 4th Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the County Courthouse in Coldspring.
