Location & Environment: With easy access to Houston, approximately a 1 hour drive, this area is an outdoor dream come true! Recreation abounds! Fishing, boating, camping, hunting and hiking are just a few of the activities in which a visitor or resident can participate. Within Coldspring, you will find warm, friendly people and a quaint, historical downtown area which will make you feel right at home.

Stately piney woods surround the visitor to Coldspring and San Jacinto County in a serene setting approximately 85 miles northeast of Houston. Easily accessed off of US59 at Cleveland, taking FM 2025 to the west. From Shepherd, take Highway 150 W, and from Livingston, take US190 around the Lake Livingston Dam and follow the back roads! From Huntsville, take I-45 S to 150 E.

Schools: The Coldspring Oakhurst Consolidated Independent School District is committed to education of all students to function at their highest level of academic and behavioral performance in order to become responsible citizens. One of the characteristics of COCISD is strong community support through the Community Involvement Team and scholarships to outstanding graduation seniors, honoring outstanding graduates, supporting adult education classes and a host of other activities.

Transportation: San Jacinto County lies directly between two major highways, US 59 and I45. US 59 and I-45. US59 is a main thoroughfare that stretches from Texarkana to Laredo. I45 runs from Galveston to Dallas. State Highway 150 runs east and west across the area. San Jacinto County and Polk County are joined by a bridge which crosses over the Trinity River on FM 3278 at the Lake Livingston Dam.

City: Type A: General Law Municipality / Mayor & Council. Incorporated in 1969.
City Council meets 1st Monday of each month at 7 pm at the Coldspring City Hall.

County: Judge and 4 Commissioners for 4 precincts. Commissioners' Court meets 2nd Tuesday of each month at 9am and the 4th Wednesday at 2pm at the County Courthouse in Coldspring.
