The
Senior Citizens Center, located at 60 Butler Street, south of the Courthouse,
offers hot lunches and an outstanding salad bar.
Meals on Wheels is also provided. For
seniors, 60+, their spouses and/or caregivers, a donation is appreciated. All
others are $5.00. After lunch, games are offered for those who want to stay and
enjoy the fellowship for the afternoon. The
center offers blood pressure and glucose checks once a month and flu shots during
the fall. Speakers are scheduled to enlighten seniors on new medical breakthroughs,
information for diabetics, Social Security and Medicare changes. Musical
entertainment is provided periodically and holiday parties are planned by different
groups in the area. Karoke is offered the 1st and 3rd Tuesday evening at 6:00
p.m. Game nights are the 2nd and 4th Tuesday evenings at 5:00 p.m. The Thrift
Shop is open Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. (closing for lunch).
They offer gently used clothing, shoes, knick knacks, books, kitchen items and
sometimes, a whole room full of furniture! Inventory is continually changing,
so visit often! Proceeds fromt he Thrift Shop help provide meals and support our
Senior Citizens Center.
